Kedarkantha Trek is a famous temple town in Uttarakhand. It is located at an altitude of 12,000 feet above sea level and has around 15th century temples. This place is visited by lakhs of people every year during winters because this time it becomes warmer than other months as well as snowfall here is less than other places in India. You can visit this place anytime between November to February but you should know that summer season lasts from June to September so if you want to visit Kedarnath during summer then you have to plan things accordingly according to your trip schedule because there will be no sunlight in these months and it may become difficult for you to travel on foot especially when it gets dark early evening till 9 p m daily basis due increasing darkness after sunset hour

The route is via Gaurikund, Rambara, Linchauli, Jungle Chatti and finally Kedarnath.

 

The trek starts from Gaurikund which has a height of 2200 mts above sea level. You can also visit the shrine of Nanda Devi after visiting this place. After reaching there you have to go through snow covered paths that are about 3 km long which takes about 2 hours for your journey in this area. After reaching Gaurikund you will reach Rambara which is located at an altitude of 2100 meters above sea level and it’s quite cold during winters so be prepared with proper clothing like warm clothes along with gloves etc.. You then move further towards Linchauli Village where there are many tourist attractions like Chilla Pass (2300 mtrs), Phaphamau Temple (1600 mtrs) etc.. This village has been named after Lord Shiva Lingam set up here by him himself when he wanted to create new lands for people who were suffering due to floods etc.. From here onwards we start our trip towards Jungle Chatti Village where all our dreams come true when we reach there because it has got so much charm in itself that everyone loves spending time there irrespective whether they have any interest or not!

 

The ideal time to visit Kedarkantha  is between November and February. Don’t forget to pack a pair of heavy winter wear because temperature may drop to -10 degree Celsius in these months. The place remains closed during winter due to extreme cold and heavy snowfall but you get an opportunity to witness this holy place covered with a blanket of snow which makes it look more beautiful and mesmerizing.

 

Kedarkantha Trek is one of the most important pilgrimage places in Uttarakhand. The temple is located at an altitude of 17,000 feet and can be reached by taking a direct flight from Delhi to Dehradun or Haridwar. This holy valley has been witnessing pilgrims since centuries; however, Kedarnath became famous after the devastating floods that occurred in 2013.

 

Although winter months are considered to be ideal for travelling to this place but it’s always advisable to visit during summer as well because temperatures drop drastically during winters due to heavy snowfall and cold winds blowing across its slopes making it uninhabitable for human beings easily reaching here even if they have prior knowledge about its location
